Meet jennifer harmon

Jennifer Harmon is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontology, Endodontics, and Dental Hygiene at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry. A proud Triple Tar Heel, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science, Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, and Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Jennifer teaches undergraduate and graduate dental hygiene students, as well as dental students, emphasizing clinical excellence, psychomotor skill development, communication, and evidence-based education. She has served as President of both the North Carolina Dental Hygienists Association and the Supreme Chapter of Sigma Phi Alpha and remains an active member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and the American Dental Education Association.

Jennifer has received numerous honors for teaching excellence, including the 2025 University of North Carolina Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Dr. Richard F. Hunt, Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence in Pre-Doctoral Teaching, the highest teaching honor presented by the Adams School of Dentistry. She has published in the Journal of Dental Education, Journal
of Dental Hygiene, and the International Journal of Dental Hygiene. She presents nationally and internationally on preventive oral healthcare, ergonomics, periodontal instrumentation, communication, and clinical teaching.

Jennifer's greatest passion is helping future dental hygienists build the knowledge, confidence, and clinical reasoning skills needed to provide
exceptional patient care and succeed on the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination.
