kristy menage bernie
With more than four decades in dental hygiene, Kristy brings expertise, innovation, and energy to the profession. An original “edutainer,” she combines education with humor, storytelling, and engagement to make learning memorable. She is the founder and director of Educational Designs, Inc. (EDI), a consulting company focused on evidence-based marketing, advancing the role of dental hygienists, and inspiring lifelong learning.
A graduate of the University of California, San Francisco, Kristy earned her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene with honors in 2015 and served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF for more than 12 years. She received an American Dental Hygienists’ Association research grant in 2015 and currently serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Dental Hygiene.
An active professional leader, Kristy has held numerous leadership positions and received multiple honors throughout her career. She has contributed to numerous professional publications and authored a chapter on oral malodor in the second edition of Mosby’s Dental Hygiene textbook.
For more than 35 years, Kristy has energized audiences as an international continuing education speaker and facilitator at major dental and dental hygiene conferences and as a guest lecturer for dental hygiene programs. She is also a founding faculty member of AndyRDH’s Dental Hygiene Academy, where she enjoys mentoring future and current dental hygienists and helping them expand their professional horizons.
When she’s not teaching, presenting, or writing, Kristy enjoys life in San Ramon, CA with her feline sidekick, Beanie—proudly earning her the title of “confirmed cat lady.” She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and a longtime advocate for bringing wellness and balance into the dental hygiene profession.
